Default Re: Resolutions for 2006

Following up on my resolutions-- I'm still going to the gym 3-4 times a week! There was a "fitness challenge" from mid Feb to mid March to do 40 miles on the elliptical machines or treadmills in 4 weeks, and I logged 41.8 miles. It was good motivation to keep going regularly (and I think I get a t-shirt or something for completing the challenge).
I also think I've lost about 6-7 lbs since I started going to the gym at the end of January-- I can fit in my older jeans again-- Goal accomplished! Now to stay this way...

We are also still eating better, getting lots of fruits and veggies and whole wheat products at the store.

WE have pretty much stayed on the sugar free, low carb diet. DH has now lost 37 pounds, but I am stuck at the same weight. I have been walking on the treadmill and added 20flights of stairs daily.

That's fabulous, Ima! It's amazing how such a simple thing as cutting down on carbs can take the weight down.

I guess I should update my own resolutions! *LOL*

I have been in contact with family and friends in SA and UK, however I have not had the time to sit down to write letters. At least they know CJ and I are alive and thriving. My diet has improved to include vitamins and less carbs.

My exercise has increased to include a game of footies (soccer) with my CJ after work in the evenings. Quite a feat but not beyond me.

After shocking litgation tactics on my part, , CJ's biological contributor has been ordered by the UK courts to pay child maintenance along with a lump sum of arrears for abandoning us. This suprise stipend will help CJ's 529 savings.

2006 has been a good one so far.

1. the scale at the gym shows I've lost some lbs. And going by the fit of my pants, I was very pleased to see last week that I comfortably fit into my size 2 shorts again! (from a size 4). I think my arms are more toned as well. I've been going to the gym on average 3 days a week (end of January through mid April). Now that it's nice, I'm stll exercising that often, but only occasionally in the gym, and doing things outside more, like riding my bike and taking walks. Not to mention lifting/picking up preschoolers at work.

2. I've been sleeping more, and I haven't gotten sick once since the last time I was sick at the very beginning of the year. As per my doctor I've also been loading up on Vitamin C because I work in a germ-incubator (preschool).

3. I've been in touch with friends from college - And I met up with 3 of my good friends one weekend in April.

My husband and I have both maintained our weight loss. One goal was to pay off credit card debt each month and that has been done. Also, I have paid $1000 (at least) extra on my land payment each month!!

Well, I basically have only one:

To make this the best f---ing year of my life!

I apologize for the bleeped out obscenity, but it's in there to emphasize just how desperate and determined I am at accomplishing my objective.

You see, this year is also one of my worst years in that this is the year I got divorced. That's why it's so important for me to be able to recover and do well.

The specifics of my goal, however, are fairly straightforward. I've mentioned them in my blog, but it's essentially to repair my finances, pay off my debts, and then to live in the black from now on.

While I will not accomplish that in one year, rest assured that I am singularly focused on this one objective.

Ours is to change our financial behavior from one of just going with the flow to having a goal and plan.

I am still paying an extra $1000 on my land payment each month. My balance was $64,000 to start with and now it is $28,000.
