That's the plan. We actually used to have two car payments. Money was direct deposited in savings and then withdrawn by loan company on payment date. Once we had one vehicle paid off we were able to accelerate the other. Now I'm just gonna pretend the money isn't there and let it build up. If all goes well we won't be buying another car for at least 3 years.

CONGRATS!!!!!

Isn't that such a breath of fresh air...NO CAR PAYMENT.....
say it again with me...LOL>>>NOOOO CAR PAYMENT.....

As imasaver mentioned and you discussed, just keep putting it back month after month for the next time you have to get a car.

CONGRATS again!

Congrats! Wish so many of us did not have to have a mortgage to own a house, and we lived in the old days when people could actually pay cash for a house on medium salary...oh well! America isn't the same, and most people have to have mortgage debt to get a house...

Good job terces. It feels good to drive a car you actually own, doesn't it? Now you're never ever ever going to borrow money again are you?

Make sure you save up an emergency fund of 3-6 months of your living expenses. That will help ensure that you never have to borrow money for unexpected expenses. Focus on building this emergency fund (if you don't have it already) before you build up a car fund.

Keep it up though. You're an inspiration. Thanks for sharing!

Its been almost a year since my original post of paying off my car. What a great year its been! And I am very proud of my family to have been able to live without that money and directly send it to savings. Its a good feeling to see it grow. Thanks to this forum for the inspiration.

Now if we could just sell the motorcycle (our stupid tax) I'll be doing the happy dance.
