Drug Money Debt

OK, I'm in a lot of trouble and I'm not sure where to turn or how to get out of this situation. I imagine that this isn't the typical debt question for these forums and I'm not sure whether anyone will be able to help me, but since this could be a life and death situation, I figure I must try.

I borrowed a large quantity of drugs from a dealer I know. The plan was to sell them and to repay the dealer and have enough money to pay off my considerable debts. In hindsight, I know this was an absolutely stupid thing to do to try and get out of debt, but it seemed like it was a good solution at the time.

I sold part of the drugs and I have about half the money I owe the dealer, but the rest of the drugs were stolen from me last night on a deal gone bad. I need to come up with $5000 by the end of the week just to cover what I owe the dealer. Unlike banks, if I don't have the money, I will be physically harmed at best which is something that I would rather avoid if possible.

I can't report the robbery to the police since it has to do with illegal substances and the dealer isn't going to care what excuse I give if I don't have the money. Any suggestions on what I can do to solve this problem without any broken bones?

Sell your possessions, move away and go underground? Honestly, I can't think of any other LEGAL options besides that.

Call a criminal attorney now who is more qualified to tell you what to do.

I don't think that a criminal attorney will be of much help in this situation since it isn't a court issue. It's a catch 22 -- if you go to the police for protection, you incriminate yourself for doing illegal activities. If you don't, you have the possibility of physical harm.

I don't have an answer for you, but it sure does put all the debt issues that are usually discussed on this board in a whole new perspective.

ummm.... yea.... I'd say spill the beans to the police on your drug dealing friend, and hope they'll give you leniency (protection?) in exchange for your assistance in the matter. by the way, a jaunt behind bars for a minor possession charge (get a lawyer -- you could probably negotiate the dealing charges down to a possession charge) would afford you the protection you may need when the dealer comes calling.... meanwhile, the cops can make arrangements for a longer-term bed for him elsewhere in the prison. Again, get yourself a lawyer, and talk to the police.

Otherwise, run for the hills and be more careful with your choice in acquaintances.....

OP, you are a drug dealer. You really don't deserve any help or advice. You deserve whatever is coming to you. There are plenty of legal ways to make money that don't destroy the lives of other people.

On second thought, I think I've seen this flick. It doesn't end very well for you...sorry.

if you sold half you should have some money right? give that to them beg for mercy get a job pay it back then get new friends and move away from this before you end up in jail

I would not contact the police as they will just put you in jail and charge you fines and that would not help you

I do agree that you should sell every thing you can , borrow money if you have anyone who will lets you ,

if you come out of this fly right

I can't go to the police. I am currently on probation and they would throw me in jail without a thought which won't help my situation. That is also the issue with fleeing - if I do that, I violate my parole and will not only be on the run from the dealer, but then also the law.

I've pawned all the things that I have that are worth any money and I'm still a few thousand dollars short. I have 2 more days to come up with that money. I've hit up all my friends, but nobody seems to have money these days.

I understand that some of you don't approve of what I did. I know that it was wrong and stupid, but it's already been done and I need to find a solution out of this.

Your only legal options at this point are to turn yourself in and do your time and become a man when you get out. If you stay on the street the dealer will find you. He may get to you in prison but it's time to man up. Probably not the answer you want but it could save your life and maybe give you a life.

Oh, please. You've ALREADY violated your parole by selling drugs! So don't try to make it sound like you're staying put in order to do the right thing. You just don't want to get caught: Big difference.

The economy's in the toilet and money's tight all around these days. Are you really surprised that your friends don't want to fork over what little money they probably have in order to help you in your criminal endeavors?

It's not a matter of approval or disapproval. The only suggestions that people are going to give you have already been provided. One legal option -- selling your stuff to pay him back -- apparently isn't going to work. You could try getting a pay-day loan, but you're already stuck financially as it is and that would just deepen the hole you're in (even if it's legal).

You can't steal stuff to sell; that's illegal. You can't leave town; that furthers your parole violation. That leaves you with 1) turning yourself in and going to jail (for the drug dealing and parole violation); or 2) getting your face smashed in. Only you can decide which is the lesser of two evils.

You won't be able to get $5K from a payday loan. If you have good credit, apply for some credit cards and pull out some cash. Or, if you own a car or home, you can use it as collateral for a loan.

If you are going to get beat up for not having all of the money, even though you have some of it, how about taking what you do have to the nearest casino and trying to win the difference. I'd suggest a high limit blackjack or craps table but only if you know how to play the games properly.

you have already violated your parole.

You knew your lecture you got when you got on parole - avoid people who use/deal/are around drugs. If you are using how did you get by the ua.

Your druggie friends will always get you back into trouble and that goes for any dealer 'freinds'.

You have used a lawyer (maybe court appt.). Call them up and ask what to do (it is att/client privilege privacy).

Turning yourself in if your attt. suggests so would sort of defeat the loan - you cannot get money to pay it back while in jail. And maybe he would forget about it by the time you finish your sentence. Or he might be in jail by that time or even, given the violence of the drug trade, he might not be a problem for you at all.

I wonder if you have a house as an asset or credit cards - most of our drug dealing clients used and every asset and relative's asset was put on the line. Those who did not use were the ones who made money and were able to keep it but they were usually eventually caught.

The att. could as one poster mentioned help you negotiate a deal perhaps and tell you how to best proceed.

The only other option is to go in local hiding from the drug dealer and be trying to get him his money some legal way.

Crime always compounds against you.

Are your other debts from legitimate sources like bank loans or credit cards? Or are they illegal like loan sharks and bookies? Maybe you can squeal on the drug dealer and also on the illegal creditors, eliminating ALL your debt.

If you don't want to turn yourself in, which would actually be the smartest thing, then I would get a cash advance on every single credit card you have, sell everything possible you own, pay the drug dealer what you have, ask him if you can wash his car for the next 3 months, clean his toilet, whatever, to make up the difference, then declare bankruptcy and start over with a new life, all cash. Maybe even move to a new city, or better a small town with little drug traffic (does that even exist now?). Alaska would be an excellent choice. You could even try to get a job in the crab industry...hard work, but pays a ton of money and if you use drugs while working on the Bering sea you probably will not have to worry much about your future.
