I've spoken with Flash regarding some complaints we've received on the Bullet and Northeaster trains. We've decided to change some routes and post some reminders to get the trains back on track.

The main complaints are that the trains are taking too long to move through the route, they arrive with too many expired coupons which, when removed, result in a really thin package going forward, usually containing only insert coupons. So here's the new plan:

1. We will be consolidating the Northeaster and Northeaster Caboose into one train. It doesn't appear that we have enough coupons to support both trains, so we'll go back to one Northeaster and revisit it in the future if demand exists.

2. When you receive the train, please make a post on this thread, indicating when it was received.

3. As you go through the train, pull out the coupons you want, and replace them in kind and then some. For the person who receives the train at the end of the month (or any other big expiration date), don't feel like you have to replace every expired coupon. If we all replace the number we take and then some, it will lessen the burden on the person who has the train when many expire.

3A. If you see you're receiving a depleted train, or one with a lot of expired coupons, please PM me in confidence and let me know.

4. Please turnaround the train within 3 days. Sometimes it will be 2, sometimes it will be 4. It should never be 7-10!

5. AFTER you have dropped the package at the post office, post again to indicate it's been sent. By having both the sender and receiver post, we'll be able to track transit times and change the route if the post office is taking too long to mail.

6. Your wish lists are posted on the route slip that moves with the train. In addition, please post your wish list in the "Wish List" thread. I'd like to work with other coupons so we can pass coupons back and forth amongst ourselves, without needing Flash as the intermediary. So if another train conductor sees we have a need for something they don't need on their train, they can pass coupons to me and vice versa.

7. Finally, remember that the train only works if everyone does their part. If you see someone has an item on their wishlist, sign up on that website so you can get additional coupons for that person. If you see tear pads or rebate forms in stores for products that you don't use but may be useful to someone else, pick up a few and pop them in the envelope. Let's see if we can make the trains run better!

Jodi,

I sent the Northeaster to you today, Priority Mail. Please post here when you get it. Also, I received the Caboose in the mail, but it was too late to combine it with the Northeaster. So I'm going to look through it tonight and send it on to you tomorrow, priority. Will you please combine it with the Northeaster so we only have one train going forward? Thanks and enjoy!

Jodi,

with my burst water pipe, I haven't made it to the post office to mail out the Caboose. So go ahead and send the Northeaster on when you're ready. I'll send the Caboose to you tomorrow, and at whatever point, they catch up with each other, whoever has them can combine them and send it forward. Sorry for the delay...

Thanks for the update, MJ. I was expecting to get the train today, but it still has not arrived. I would hope it would be in the mail tomorrow - I'll post if it is.

I mailed the caboose to Jodi today. It should arrive by her on Tuesday. Also, we're waiting on the status of the Northeaster. I mailed it to Jodi priority on Tuesday afternoon, and she hasn't gotten it yet, but it hasn't been returned to me. As soon as one of us sees it, we'll post...

Finally got the train today. I pulled out the coupons that expired en route and will add a bunch more. I am going to hold it until I get the Caboose on Tuesday, since there is no mail Monday anyway, then send it all on together.
I have to say, I am very impressed with the variety of coupons in this train. It's no longer just the inserts - there are all types of coupons! Bravo, northeasterners!

Jodi,

I'm glad you got it...I was beginning to worry. As an aside, I read on another coupon thread here that you can go to usps.gov and print out a flat rate priority shipping label ($4.05) using your debit card. It automatically assigns a tracking # (which is helpful when the train is MIA), and you don't need to go to the post office to mail it. Haven't checked it out myself yet, but am definitely planning to when the trains come to me again.

Glad to hear the package had worthwhile coupons for you. Sounds like the Northeaster is back on track. ChooChoo!

Ack! I could have sworn I posted here. I received the Caboose on Tuesday afternoon (our mail comes late). I combined the two and sent a very hefty package out Wednesday morning.
I probably removed 50-60 coupons (expired and ones I could use), but I bet I added 150 or more. I've been saving up for a while There are quite a few that expire 10/15, and then a bunch more on 10/31, so the package will get a little lighter after those are pulled.
It's good to be back on board!

Way to go!

Again, Boo and others, when you're hit with a big expiration date like the 15th or 31st, don't feel like you have to replace all of the expiring coupons. That's too much of a burden for one person. Instead, let's follow Jodi's lead...put in more than you take out and that way even when the expireds are pulled, we still have a good-sized package.

Choo-Choo!

Hi guys~

Just got the package late yesterday. I will try and put it in the mail on Monday. I will re-post when I send it to Amy. Lots to go through and put in, so I need a couple of days.

This is a great train.

Sorry
My P O is slow to put mail in my box. Every time there is a holiday it is soooooooo slow.

I agree--how do you think I feel to pay a fee to have my mail delivered to a box and I have to wait in a line to pick up what does not fit a least twice a week. The rest of the week there is nothing but JUNK!!!

When I get this I smile and quickly get it back out to the rest of you!!!
