I heard about this website on the local FOX newscast this morning. check out Freedomlist. I briefly scanned the list and saw a bunch of free (or, really cheap) local ISPs that don't claim not to flood your screen with banners or popups. It may be worthwhile to bookmark to obtain free, local dial-up ISPs as a backup for your broadband connection if it goes down or if you're travelling and don't want to pay the $9.95 a day for broadband in the hotel room (or, the equivalent of $300.00/month!) but get free local calls.
