Re: What car do you drive now and what would you like to drive but can't afford now?
I drive a 2000 Ford Explorer, and my wife drives a 1997 Toyota Celica. Both have been paid off for years.
We will be getting her a new car at the end of this year. What I really would like to get her would be an Acura TL. That said, I will most likely either buy her a new or used Honda Accord, and finance it over 36 months. Once I get that paid off, my Explorer will be 11 year old, and it will be time to buy another car.
My Uncle did that, always rotated cars. Purchased one car, paid it off in 3-4 years, and then bought another one while keeping the paid off car for another 3-4 year. Always seemed to work well for him, and at worst he only had a single car payment. I plan on doing the same.
