With group health insurance you will be automatically approved regardless of your health history where on the individual health side you will have to answer questions going back over your last 10 years of health history and the insurance company can choose to accept/decline you.
Of course, it follows that group health is more expensive than individual as the insurance company can pick an choose who they want to insure on the individual side where on the group side they have to take everyone regardless of health issues. (A good way to think of it is if you are healthy then you are in a sense subsidizing the cost of your unhealthy coworkers who have cancer, diabetes, etc.)
