Do you have a gineau pig? We have 2.
Instead of buying shaved wood litter I do this:
1. Line the cage with old newspaper, ads, etc.
2. Retrieve shredded paper from the shredder here at home.
3. Put shredded paper in about 1/2 the cage for nesting.
NOTE: Check with your vet or gineau pig references before you try this. Gineau pigs will tend to eat a little of the paper and some recommend NOT using newsprint, magazine (clay and ink type) pages, etc.
I did a little test on my animals using a little of the materials before going full blown with it. YES they did eat a little and NO they did not get sick. Our two pets are happy as 'pigs'.
This is a huge saver as they would go through hundreds of $$ in storebought litter a year.
