  • I think that is the no. #1 mistake people make when drinking beer. I traveled extensively in Germany, Belgium and Holland----3 countries that are renowned for their beer---and i was taught the "proper" way to pour and enjoy beer.

    I recall a blustery evening in Monneickendam, Holland. I initially protest the thick head on my beer. The draughtsman laughed and told me to drink this and then we'll pour the "American" way with virtualy no foam. The taste was like night and day. The American way totally flattened the beer. It was no longer gloriously thick and fine bodied.

    Try it the European way...pour your choice of a beer (preferably a nice import of decent micro/macro brewery) in a larger glass than you need and let the foam fly!
