there are a few schools going to privatized greener route for lunches, i saw a news story not too long ago... they are few and far between and this point, though.

my memories of what was served in elementary school: beef stew (favorite!), pizza, corn dogs, chili sticks, cole slaw, hamburgers, french fries, tater tots. i grew up in the 'ketchup is a vegetable' era jr high was better: they had a salad bar and baked potato bar. i went througha phase where my lunch was a pepsi & a pack of reese's cups everyday b/c it cost 10 cents less than regular lunch...
