This is so important. I'm a family practice physician and so much of what I treat every day is self-induced and preventable in many cases: diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, acid reflux, common colds, many injuries, etc. If people would just take better care of themselves, they could lower their healthcare costs tremendously. Eat a low fat, low salt diet. Get 8 hours of sleep each nite. Don't smoke. Drink in moderation. Limit caffeine. Excercise regularly. And keep your weight within normal range. That would solve so many problems that cost individuals and society billions of dollars.
