I too don't like pre-cooked pasta or rice. I think they get pasty.
One thing I like to do is to make all of the other things prior to setting them up the dishes, making batches of sauces and mixes, that can be frozen. Then I can assemble them quickly/mix them up and pop them in the oven or pan. Pre-mixing , measuring and making some items can be a good was to make last minute needed dishes/meals etc......
