Default Re: Merchants are not allowed to require a minimum purchase for credit card users

Once upon a time a movement started to give people who paid cash a small discount. The customers were happy because they got a discount. The merchants were happy because giving the discount was cheaper than paying the CC Fee on small purchases. The only people not happy were the greedy CC companies, so they added a clause to the merchant agreement prohibiting everything that might make CC's less attractive than cash.

Who were the big losers as a result of this? The consumers, as usual. And now things have gotten so bad that 'consumer advocate' reporters on local tv stations and elsewhere are taking the CC companies side against the merchants by writing stories like this.
