Default The Rich Use More Coupons Than Average

Not only do the wealthy use grocery coupons, they use them more frequently than those making less money than them. According to a survey commissioned by VISA, 72% of households earning more than $125,000 a year clip coupons. That compares to the national average of 65% of consumers who use coupons.

Further evidence that the wealthy are frugal is that 66% of them shop at discount and warehouse stores, a rate 18% higher than the national average. The survey polled about 800 consumers that had an annual household income of $125,000 or more.

While frugal in the above two areas, these high income households pass on the garage sales. Only 34% of them visit garage sales compared to a national average of 47%.

The survey also found that the high earners didn't like to be labeled "wealthy." Although they admitted that "wealthy" was an accurate description of their status, nearly three-fourths said they were embarrassed by the labels "well off" or "wealthy."
