thanks BA... i wish i had a better pic of my actual completed and framed XS's that i could post but the catalog pic is way better than anything i have currently...

as for sentimental, it goes back to the first months we were dating and stretches into the present...

we were browsing in a craft store and saw a completed The Mighty Samurai cross stitch displayed on the wall and were simply awed by it... there was something about him that touched us...

later i went back to the store without him to buy that kit... $35 was quite a bit of money to me back then... imagine my surprise arriving there to find that my target was 50% off thanks to a clearance sale...I've found that Dimensions Gold Collection Kits are rarely on sale and these* were only on sale as that store was eliminating it's cross stitch section*... giddy with my good luck i decided i could buy another... after looking at the remaining selection i decided to buy "Elegance of the Orient" the Geisha cross stitch...

for the next year i worked on it during times when we weren't together...i even took it to school with me and worked on it during bus rides....
i finished it by our first anniversary and it was kind of my gift to "us"...

then i started on the Geisha... she was much more difficult and school got busy so progress was much slower (took me almost 4 years)... i finally finished her last year and we got them both framed early this year before our wedding, where we displayed them for our family and friends...
i guess to me, the pair represents us or maybe our relationship or some facet of it... there is just something about them...

there is even some irony in it... i'm going to sound like a dork admitting this but i was about halfway into working on the geisha when i realized they are a matched pair... i knew they were from the same designer but it never dawned on me until one day i realized that they had so many parallels...
he's got his peacock and tree and she's got her dove and cherry blossom tree... if you hang them together they actually face each other with the trees framing them... i couldn't believe it... then it really seemed like karma, fate, etc...

so yeah i almost felt like i was meant to buy them both and to complete the pair for our home...
