I never really thought about money when deciding when to wash things. It was just more a matter of when things needed to be washed. Shirts, socks, and drawers are worn once, PJs and pants usually 2-3 times, towels are washed after 2-3 uses, sheets are changed every 3-4 weeks (we usually sleep on both the fitted and topsheet, then take off the topsheet at the halfway point) blankets, shower curtains, and throw rugs are done about quarterly.
