The flap? Maybe I'm not calling it by its correct name, but when you look inside the tank, you'll notice that there's a chain attached to the flush handle. The chain is connected to a round rubber flap. When you push down the flush handle, the chain is pulled up, causing the flap to be lifted, allowing water from the tank to empty into the bowl to flush it.

The bleach cleaners always seemed to warp the rubber and it wouldn't sit flat to seal the opening. That's what caused the constant leak, so we used to be replacing the flap every so often.

Hope this makes sense and if anyone knows of a better name for "the flap" please feel free to correct me. Never too old to learn... :-)
