Default Re: No Credit Cards vs. Credit Card Savvy

When you use a credit card, you will most likely spend more money than if you had been using cash. That's a proven theory. In some cases, a lot more.

For purchases on the internet, you can use a debit card. I even find when using a debit card, I overspend at the Supermarket. If I have cash in my pocket -- and only cash, I spend approximately 30% less than if I use a debit card. It's too easy to say, "Oh, I'll get this and this and this and this and -- I know I have enough in teh checking account to cover it!"

I've gone to the envelope system and don't use debit or CC anymore. I don't trust myself!

If you can really be self-controlled, I guess it's okay. But I know I really can't!

(PS - I do use debit cards at the gas station as I have little ones and don't want to have to go inside to pay.)
