This is also an option I had thought of (until this week I worked in a craft store!), but it the savings would only be slight compared to the time it would take you to actually put it all together. And I don't think they would look as nice if done by hand this way.

However, for this method I would suggest printing on decorative paper or card stock and using spray adhesive to stick the paper to the magnet sheets. This way you can use any decorative paper you want (that fits in your printer, that is) and not be limited to the size of the printing labels.
