Re: how do u get around balance transfer and cash advance fee
Just stay away from cash advances! I fell into that trap once. DD came home on a Sunday and I needed money (banks were closed and no debit card at the time), so I thought I'd just take a cash advance. Simple, right??? Wrong!!!
First of all it had a higher interest rate and second...if you carry a balance on your cc (and I did at that time) any extra money you send for payment goes towards the regular cc debt (lower interest rate). For the next couple of months I tried to pay off the cash advance by sending in the amount owed (plus the regular payment) but as I said, they would just apply it toward the amount owed for purchases. I finally had to call the cc company and get an exact quote on the amount due for the cash advance so that I could send a check and pay it off!
