I never buy shreded cheeze. And I only shred as much as needed for a certain meal. That way it stays fresh longer, and lasts longer. To shread a half pound, it will take me about 5-7 min. Good exercise!!! Never tried the whole pound at the same time.

I found that eggs are the cheapest convinience food. Recently I found it for 70c/dozen at WinCo. I boil them in the evening. Dh takes a couple to work along with a sandwich or dinner leftovers and a fruit. And I put the rest in the fridge for a quick snack later on.
