I guess it depends on how much you can make when you work extra in relation to your current rate of pay. For instance, if you normally make $30/hr but you can only find extra work for $6/hr, it might be more beneficial to save (depending on your fixed costs). However, if you make $30/hr but can work overtime and make $45/hr, then working extra will help you to reach your goal sooner.
