The PT has fine crash test results...it has tested well for all models after 2001 (the first year)...Sounds like someone fell a little to hard the the KIA salespersons line about safety. The Kia has gone from the WORST ratings since 2001 to a "good" rating. I would not choose it on saftey alone. Also the PT has one of the lowest ratings factors for Insurance costs of any car out there. So you will have low ins costs with a new or used PT. I really don't think they the car for me but they are far from a "deathtrap"
