I did this recently on two items...one was Pledge floor cleaner, which I had been using and couldn't find anywhere, so I emailed Pledge...learned they had discontinued it, and they mailed me a coupon for any product FREE.
On the other hand, I used an Arm and Hammer anti-allergen product once, and could not find it again. I emailed them, they apologized and referred me to the store managers, but also sent me a coupon for a FREE product for my trouble. They forwarded my comments to the local reps, I contacted my local manager, and now, coincidentally or not, almost all the stores here carry the product!
