Unfortunately, NJ doesn't give money back for cans and stuff like that. I am a member of a couple survey sites that have paid me, and consider it pretty easy money.
Pinecone Research is by far the best - they pay $5 for every survey you take. They usually send 1-2 surveys each month. The drawback is that they only take new members through banner ads, so you have to find a banner and click it to join.

Another place I get free stuff is
MyPoints. I love this program. I earn 5 points just for reading emails, so if you don't mind reading emails you can make quick points that way. You also earn points from buying from online merchants through the MP website.
