While I'm sure one is able to earn a good amount of rebates using Mr. Rebates, the fact is that Ebates offers higher cash-back most of the time (more than twice as often as Mr. Rebates.) IF one shops at certain specific sites/stores that happen to be the ones that Mr. Rebates offers more cash-back on, then Mr. Rebates would be the way to go. Otherwise, Ebates is, as a matter of fact and figures, the better of the two.

As an example of what I referred to above, about shopping certain stores: In this instance, if you frequently shop at Buy.com and Half.com and less frequently elsewhere, you would do better through Mr. Rebates.
However, across the board: Its true that this sampling, and other comparisons have shown similarly, that one can expect roughly 45% to favor Ebates, 35% to be 'tied', and 20% to favor Mr. Rebates.
In other words, if you made a three column list with the headings, "Mr. Rebates, Tied, and Ebates", you would put the vast majority of stores/services in the Ebates or Tied column. That's not a knock on Mr. Rebates in any way, its just a matter-of-fact.
Bottom line: If you know what certain stores you plan to shop/build your rebates from, then just make your own list and check both. It will be clear then which service is best for you. If you want to shop a broad range of sites without pre-determining where you will shop/buy from, etc. then Ebates is best. Of course, many people join both. I don't like that myself because I'd rather consolidate my earning of rebates to one service (also I like getting paid after reaching a level of $5.01 [Ebates] instead of having to reach $25 [Mr. Rebates]), however, there is no other real reason not to do so if you wish. If you wanted to join two such services, I believe these two are the best ones to consider.
