There are a number of widely available 6%+ cds out there, found mostly at credit unions. Depending on what your savings goals are, sometimes financial instituitons pay a higher rate on education savings accounts. Of course if you are interested in them, you should check out your state's 529 plan. Some states offer free scholarships just for participating.
