that's very true... my dad is in construction (plumbing) and everybody spends about that much every day, including my dad.... my mom found other places to cut corners when we were younger and money was slim but my dad never brought lunch from home... looking back i don't mind too much because it was one of his small luxuries when he was working hard to support us all and he was fairly low-maintenance in many other ways.... also, it might have been partly an image/family thing because my grandparents own the company, and 3 of their 4 sons work there...
they, meaning my grandparents/the company will sometimes even buy breakfast/lunch for everybody...
i don't know about everybody else but everybody in my dads family (all 4 sons and their families) has a home... my dad is lucky because my mom pushed him to buy their house when we were younger (hence the slim times) but now, 15 years later it is probably worth double that or maybe more...and it was a great place to grow up... and since he is making more money now after his promotion to supervisor the mortgage has only gotten easier...
