Arrow Re: do you shop at savealot?

I've never been to a sav-a-lot that didn't take coupons! - and I've moved a lot, so I've seen quite a few.

I usually do my grocery shopping once a week... and I always start at sav-a-lot. Buy as much as you can there, then head over to Kroger (or where ever) for the rest of the stuff you can't find. There are a few generics that I don't care for, but it's trial and error... and at those prices you can afford a few mistakes. I buy more canned juice there than anywhere, because they actually sell a wide variety of 100% natural products - a rarity on most juice shelves.

Now, about the meat: I never never never buy ANY produce from Wal-mart! Everything they sell is overly soaked in preservatives so that it lasts longer, to look fresher on the shelves. But the taste is sacrificed; personally I find it disgusting (not just the thought, but the actual taste). I know I should buy everything organic if I want real natural taste, but I have never tasted any produce from anywhere (other than Wally world) with so many additives that no amount of spice can ever hope to cover it up.

Sav-a-lot, however, I have had some incredible luck. It's like anywhere, you have to be very selective. Once, I bought a pack of pork chops from them... usually pork chops shrivel when you cook them, but not these. I never buy the 'daily special' from sav-a-lot, that meat marked to sell immediately before it expires. But, the normal everyday stuff, is ALWAYS worth looking through.
