More Beauty tips:
Summer Skin Care
There’s no need to go out and buy expensive, specialty products to treat oily summer skin.
Make your own products with natural items such as aloe, cucumber and rose water.
Protect Your Skin
Be sure to wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 every day of the year to protect from ever-present UVA and UVB rays.
To be effective against aging and skin damage, your sunscreen must offer protection from both UVA rays, which cause aging by attacking collagen and elastin in the dermis, and UVB rays, which attack the epidermis, or outer skin and cause burning, freckling and age spots.
Zinc oxide is now more user friendly, offers excellent sun protection, and is great for acne-prone skin.
Cucumber Mask
Cucumber soothes, while green tea and chamomile reduce puffiness, and aloe vera maintains moisture and helps heal sunburned skin.
Ingredients:
1 cucumber, peeled and grated
2 oz. green tea
2 oz. chamomile
1 oz. aloe vera
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and apply to face, hands or any skin area that is burned, irritated or dehydrated. It should keep for a week in the refrigerator.
Rosewater Toner
This mild astringent is great for both men and women. It removes oil and residue and tones the skin.
Ingredients:
1 cup boiling water
1 cup fresh rose petals
Directions:
Place rose petals in a bowl lined with cheesecloth. Pour boiling water over petals and let steep for 30 minutes. Discard the petals and store rosewater in refrigerator..
It should keep for a couple of weeks.
Aloe & Rosewater Moisturizer
This rich moisturizer should not be used on oily or acne-prone skin.

3 Tbs. grated beeswax
3 Tbs. lanolin
1/2 cup olive oil
2 Tbs. aloe vera gel
4 Tbs. rosewater
Directions:
Melt beeswax and lanolin in a double boiler. Stir in remaining ingredients and allow to cool completely. Apply to dry skin, leave on for 15 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
