Actually, in some states "things" may not be put back for public use-against state sanation laws--"things" include, ketchup, hotel items such as shampoo.... My cousin manages a hotel, and these items can be given to employees or donated to places such as group homes or shelters. He gives them to us for our scout troop to pass on. Some states and businesses and insurance companies are afraid the items could be tampered with and left behind for another person to use. I do remember years ago a article in the paper about someone putting nair in shampoo at a hotel...
Based on knowing that fact, I do take my shampoo and bar of soap from my hotel room on my final day of my stay.
