Airline Tickets Become Much Cheaper
Airline tickets are going to get a lot cheaper in the short turn. Delta Air Lines, the nation's number 3 carrier, discounted and reorganized its domestic fares in the face of growing competition from discount airlines.
American Airlines, the nation's number one carrier, followed with discounted tickets of its own. Northwest Airlines, which first balked at Delta's plans has begun to discount some tickets on routes competing against Delta. All this means that travelers, especially those purchasing last minute tickets will see tickets at deep discounts as much as 50% less to what they were only a few days ago.
The bigger airlines have scrapped their complicated ticket systems for much more simplified pricing structure that resembles those of successful airline discounters such as Southwest and JetBlue.
Travel experts are predicting that the other major airlines that have not yet moved toward a simpler ticketing structure - United, Continental and US Airways - would soon overhauled their own fares in response Delta and American.
