Default Re: What frugal thing did you do today?

I sometimes hide things from the kids, and they don't get upset. DD can go through a whole box of cookies, crackers, etc. with no problem. If her little brother stands a chance of getting a treat in his lunch each day, I have to stash a few things. I buy two boxes of each thing (whatever's on sale or what I have coupons for) and she devours hers pretty quickly. His gets hidden to last through the week.

Hiding treats has nothing to do with who's good enough or deserves something special, at least in this house. There's plenty for all, but it must be shared fairly and sometimes a teen appetite wants to eat more, more, and more! Our 16 year old is 5'8 and weighs 115, so no weight problem there. Her dad and I, as well as her brother, are all blessed with a fast metabolism. I'm always willing to buy treats, as long as it doesn't go over our budget. Our son is really good about leaving something for the next person. Today there were four donuts, (mini size) and he left two for his dad. Now if we can just get DD to not leave a 1/2 inch of juice or soda in the bottle...
