I totally understand, but they're not just going to show me their utility bill. They're the types that won't let you know if there is a problem, because they don't want to worry you or make you feel bad. Therefore, I wouldn't know how much it went up. However, it is just natural that it would. The rooms we use weren't blocked off before, but they weren't used. That means they didn't have lights on back here, nor electric things plugged in like we do... i.e. computers and the like. Part of the reason they wanted us to live with them was so we wouldn't have to pay for anything and I could focus on finishing school. They don't want me to work, so I can't do much about helping pay if they'd even let me.
The house is 1 story, medium-sized. As I said, the rooms weren't sealed off before we moved in, but they just never really came back here, except to use the 2nd bathroom occasionally.

That's actually a really good idea. In fact, I have a clothes drying rack that I purchased a few years ago, when we lived elsewhere. I'll definitely try that, thanks!
