Keep talking to your husband - you can do this but only as team- dream a common vision, set your goals and then take the steps to achieve this- what will being debt free mean to both of you
Are you both working, or just him?. Is it possibe either , or both ,of you could get a part time job for a short while to ease the crunch- the festive( aka the busy retail) season is coming.
