Jason, at your young age, that platitude sounds idealistic, and wonderful, noble, and altruistic, but in practice, in real life, in reality, it is far from true.

The best way to build wealth is to concentrate on your self, your own situation. Let others worry about their own nest egg. This is not to suggest you go at it alone, but rather to focus and concentrate on your own dealings first and foremost. This is the American way, the power of the individual, the maverick...otherwise, what you describe in your post is socialism, and you know where that got the USSR ;-) In in America, we can be individualistic, yet at the same time, a good neighbor....strong tall fences make strong neighbors...that sort of thing....
