Default Re: Would you do this to keep heating costs down?

Princess, you would have thought we didn't have any rooms we didn't use. The whole house was only 840sqft.

We had a floor furnace. It was terribly inefficient at heating any rooms outside of the main room and yet the main room couldn't stay warm for trying to heat the rest of the house (we had new windows and the whole house had new vinyl siding with the insulation they put there in addition to the original insulation, plus we added insulation to the roof).

I found that the kids and I could survive in the front room (about 20x10) and have it nice and toasty and just ignore the rest of the house (the two bedrooms and the kitchen). We kept a space heater in the bathroom and it could heat up really quickly, so you could turn it on and by the time you had your pants down, it would be blowing warm air at you. I would move that heater into the hall way to heat the bedrooms about an hour before bed.
