I moved across town over a span of a month this summer, and the only advice I have is to start packing immediately, clearly label the boxes, transport packed boxes over to the new house as often as you can, and throw/donate/sell as much as humanely possible before you move. Not having to do everything in one day made it so much easier, as did the fact that I donated a ton of stuff before I moved.
