That's the main question for me. Several years ago there was peak of charity collectors ringing on your door and asking you to donate to their cause. They were offering a ticket back as a proof the hole thing is not a fraud. So I did on several occasions only to find out that it actually was a fraud.
Since then, when I decide to donate anything I only do so with honorable organizations that have established their good name over a couple of decades.
