Re: Why do you overspend?
Another one of my BIG problems is not wanting my kids to be made fun of. I don't want them dressed in 3 year old fashions because I know how cruel kids can be. My oldest boy went through several years of hell because kids chose him as the one to emotionally torture. I was forced to change schools in order to get him peace. Now, I don't want to make him (or my other kids) a target again by having them dressed like bums. So, I know I've overspent on their clothes. (Never on my own clothes, but certainly on my school-aged kids clothing.)
In other ways, the Jones' are not a big problem for ME as much as they are for my HUBBY. He wants to be doing as well as his friends from High School and other friends we have that are much wealthier than we are. They are taking lovely vacations in and out of the USA and redecorating their houses... It seems so unfair to work as hard as he does and not have anything to show for it.
It also drives him crazy that his youngest brother (9 years his junior) is doing much better than him. He has a hard time accepting this. While DH is taking pay cuts, his youngest brother is getting promoted. Sigh. This is tough on a man.
Hubby is also VERY social. He wants to host parties (that we can't afford and never have been able to afford) and go out with his friends. This all costs money that we don't have.
