Before hiring your home inspector, get at least 3 recommendations and prepare a check list[available on internet]. You or your designate needs to be there with the inspector so that you know he has been in the attic, on the roof, under the porch and signs off on all the listed items.
The electrical, water, windows systems needs particular attention.
I will presume you have flushed all toilets and turned on all taps, asked for 6 month hydro/heat/utilities, asked the age of roof, furnance and water heater before making an offer. No one can look after your money as well as you.
