I think you are right, but I also think that is a relatively recent phenomenon. When I graduated college in 1986, you were considered quite the failure if you moved back in with mom and dad. Almost all of my friends got their own places when they graduated. Some were pretty crappy but that's what they could afford. They did what they needed to do to be independent. Today, as you said, it is pretty common to move back home. Delaying adulthood seems to be becoming the norm rather than the exception.

Or you could stay there for 10 more years and have $500,000 or however much it would be. At some point, it has to not be about the money but rather about wanting to have your own life as a grown up. None of us can tell you what that point is or when is the right time for you. I'll just repeat what I said earlier and that is to forget about trying to make any plans or decisions now. Let the dust settle for 6-12 months and then take a fresh look at the situation.
