Hi everyone! My name is Helena, and I've got an off-kilter sense of humor as you may gather from my user name.
I am an environmental engineer who understands that frugality often goes hand in hand with good environmental practices.
I am also a single woman who has become the husband I always wanted to marry

My only financial safety net is the one I provide for myself, so I am driven to work hard and to protect what is mine.
While always pretty good with money, I've become particularly aware of the importance of frugality over the past few years and how grateful I will be tomorrow for money saved today. I started tracking my saving & spending habits on an Excel spreadsheet and realized that some improvement was needed. My goal was to live off of no more than 60% of my income (based on
The 60% Solution). In the past year, I've managed to live off of about 50% of my income. Not bad for a relatively high cost of living area. While proud of this accomplishment, there is always room for improvement. So I'm here to learn and to swap ideas.
