Default Splitting Chores

I find that have defined chores has saved us a lot of money. A few years back we sat down and made a list of what chores each of us were responsible for in the house. I have bathroom duty, vaccuum, mowing lawn, car cleaning, etc while DW does dusting, dishes, gardening, etc. We split cooking, although she does it more than I do (I pitch hit on the days she really doesn't feel like it).

Before we made out our list, it was a kind of free for all. Things got done when they got done and by whoever couldn't stand the situation the longest. The result in defining the chores has meant a house that works better and that in turn has saved us a lot of time and money. We don't buy dupicate things as much since the one who is doing the chores knows what is needed and when to buy more.

Do you have defined chores in your household and who does what? Does it save you money?
