My 5th grader just had a unit on stock in his math class. They had $50,000 to buy stocks, followed them for a few months, could sell if they wanted, etc. At the end of the unit, they figured their gains or losses. My 8th grader is just finishing a unit on budgeting - given a career, salary, expenses, etc. They have had other similar teachings throughout the years at their school.
