I surely disagree with this statement. I do think the overwhelming majority would and do pay for any necessary medicine before they buy junk. Actually,
most Americans are insured, and so have been pre-paying for the
possibility of medical need even before they take the paycheck to the bank. On top of that, I still say most Americans who need medicine will buy it to the exclusion of buying junk.
And could you give some examples of the "not buying something that will save you money in the long run, because its 'not a necessity'." Are we talking about not buying a low water use washing machine, for example?
