Hand blender, a handheld blender is easier to clean and faster to set up, I used one with DD and made all her food, never had a jar till vacation, and then she turned up her nose at it .

I am lazy so each night I would cook the vegetables early so they would be 'mushy' for her (took out the families at barely soft) then blended them (enough for dinner and usually lunch the next day) and put them in the freezer while DH washed DSs hands (my timer .)

For the fruit I am sorry (nutritionallywise) to say I often thawed frozen fruit and then blended it (it gets mushy in the freezer, easy to puree when thawed)
