I was pay a lot for heating because I have oil heat which cost about $1600 this winter season but I am paying a lot less for other utilities.

Electricity: $5-$10/ month (I have solar panels)

Gas : $25/month for hot water & cooking - according to energy usage sticker on water heater, it costs about $20 for hot water/month with model I have. I have water saving shower head (which brought my water bill from $10 a month) and I keep water temperature at low enough so I only turn on hot water for shower. I figure why keep water higher temperature than needed and mix with cold water for use.
So cooking is about $5/month but I use a lot of electric cooking appliances due to panels generating free electricity.

Water : $6 a month, or $18 a quarter.

I live in metro NY area in 1800 sq ft house. We do not utilize first floor (living room, dining room) much during winter seasons and do not heat first floor. Thermostat is set at 60 degrees at night and 68 during day and during summer, it's set at 80 degrees.
