You can't compare this to MC's IPO as visa came out with far more shares/higher market cap, so don't expect this to quadruple in two years like MC. FYI, MC's PE is 17.6.
It was tentative to price at 38-42 but wound up at 44; by the time it hit the little guys, it was 65. I bought 5k at 58, and it closed at 56 and change.
Morningstar valued it at 74 I believe (that is from memory so forgive me if wrong) with 56 *i think* as the target price for a buy.
I'll admit that I took a gamble on the price, but I knew that going in. I know there are some lawsuits out there and amex is gaining, but Visa has nice growth on little expenses, and with the transition to debit cards, etc., this should be less (not immune, but less) affected by recession hopefully than my other holdings. It's a 2-3 year hold for me so I don't have many concerns.
