Without replying to any of the specific points of the OP, I would say that it seems to be quite clear that credit scoring is still rather a convoluted process. They definitely are not telling the whole story when they talk about X% is based on this-or-that and so on. They guard the actual formula(s) very closely.
At least we know, in general terms, what helps and what hurts.
Basically though, I'm quite content to just be wise with my money and pay my bills on time, etc. I don't go in for the credit score games.
